The Last Company structures your progress around a company of heroes who must be prepared before automatic battles. First, you recruit characters and inspect the equipment available in the village to build a group capable of continuing the adventure. Then, you choose your next encounter while considering the danger ahead and your remaining resources. Gold is scarce, so you cannot treat every decision as a harmless experiment without consequences. You must determine whether your formation is strong enough to advance or whether it would be wiser to preserve your resources for a more favorable situation. Before each battle, you assign heroes to the formation and look for the right combination for their roles. The fight then plays out on its own: the characters attack and react according to your preparations, without you directing their movements or attacks. If the team lacks cohesion, the equipment is poorly chosen, or the opponent is too dangerous, defeat can be extremely costly. Enemies grow more formidable as the game progresses, and defeated heroes are lost forever. Your goal is therefore to make a series of smart choices, manage a limited economy, and keep the company going for as long as possible. Have fun!

Play using the left mouse button to select buildings, heroes, equipment, and menu options, clicking and dragging in the village or character previews to rotate the view, and using the mouse wheel in the village or character previews to zoom in or out. Before battle, drag hero portraits onto the 3x3 grid, or click a portrait and then a square. During battle, use the on-screen buttons to pause, resume, or change the battle speed, and press Esc to close menus or return from a building to the village. Battles happen automatically, so you prepare and position your heroes before combat without moving or attacking manually.
