Merge Mania sets up a race against time in which you make numbers disappear by placing them face to face. First, you identify the values that can be matched and choose which ones to handle. Then, each successful clash increases your score and changes the remaining layout. Your goal is to achieve the highest total before the allotted time expires. The principle therefore requires you to monitor both the visible possibilities and the consequences of every decision, since the numbers that remain determine which actions will be available afterward. Otherwise, you may end up with an unfavorable layout and no obvious combination to use immediately. You must then choose between a solution that earns points at once and a setup that may leave you with more options later. Failure does not come from an opponent to defeat, but from a timer that reaches its limit before you have built a sufficient score.
