Earth Defender is built on a very clear central rule: your ship orbits the Earth and you must change its direction of rotation to intercept meteors before they reach the planet. First, you observe where the threat is coming from and the current position of your craft on its circle. Then you decide whether it is better to keep the current trajectory or reverse it immediately in order to cut off the projectile's path. If your read is correct, the collision destroys the meteor and the game continues. Otherwise, the rock hits the Earth and your defense ends. The whole interest comes from this one-action mechanic, easy to understand but demanding in its execution, because the game requires a rapid assessment of distances, apparent speed and the right moment to act. The variety of situations appears with the progressive acceleration of the game. At the beginning, you can correct a poor anticipation fairly easily, then the reaction windows shrink and each decision becomes more committing. You do not choose between multiple weapons or routes, but between several possible timings, which completely changes the outcome of a sequence. A half turn made too early sometimes moves you away from the correct interception, while a change made too late leaves you behind the threat. As waves of meteors follow one another without end, the goal is less to finish a level than to improve your mastery and your score over time. The gameplay thus creates an arcade challenge based on situational reading, error management and continuous adaptation in the face of pressure that keeps increasing. Have fun!
