Closed City is built on a simple idea: survive in a city isolated by a zombie infection while deciding for yourself how to play your session. First, you freely explore streets and buildings to find weapons, ammunition and opportunities to progress. Then, you choose either to follow missions or to enjoy the sandbox setting and move as you see fit. This freedom does not mean that everything is without consequence, because your encounters with enemies can very quickly turn against you if you lack equipment or if you become trapped in a confined space. The variety of adversaries sustains this pressure, especially as their physical reactions intensify the chaos of combat. The game therefore asks you to constantly assess the balance between the risk taken, the equipment carried and the real interest of pushing exploration further. Then, progression depends heavily on your decisions. If you complete missions, you validate steps that also serve to record your progress, and you can also save manually from the menu. Otherwise, an ill-prepared death can erase all the inventory you were carrying, which gives concrete importance to each outing and each confrontation. Money follows a particular logic, since a new session does not reset the amount displayed in the menu and the leaderboard, creating a form of continuity beyond a single session. You can also use vehicles when the situation demands it, which adds another way to traverse the city or escape a zone that has become too dangerous. Between optional missions, saved progression, severe losses on failure and exploration of buildings detailed down to their basements, the game lets you set your priorities, but it constantly reminds you that surviving remains the most important decision. Have fun!
